Our Accomplishments

The mandate of the Kelowna Hospital Auxiliary to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation is to raise funds to purchase medical equipment and furnishings for the ongoing enhancement of the care and comfort for patients of the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).

During the current fiscal year, our Auxiliary is contributing $350,000.00 towards the hospital's Capital Equipment purchases. We have also contributed $825,000.00 towards our pledge of $1,000,000.00 for the Take Care Take Part campaign to equip the new Centennial Tower. Our pledge will equip the new Digital Imaging Room in the new Tower which is scheduled to open in May 2012. Our Auxiliary also initiates other activities in order to enhance the care and comfort of patients in the hospital.

The Auxiliary also provides 4 - $2,500.00 bursaries totalling $10,000.00 for graduating students entering post-secondary institutions in human health-care careers.

Our Auxiliary boasts 86 Auxiliary members, 14 life members with approximately 278 active volunteers who work in the Snackery, Perking Lot, Gift Shoppe, Engraving, the Ward Cart, Crafts and Fresh Flower departments. The hours it takes to operate these cash generating venues with volunteer staff only, totals in the thousands during the course of a week.

Over the past ten years, this Auxiliary has contributed in excess of $5 million dollars to the Kelowna General Hospital alone. We could not accomplish our goals without the commitment and dedication of our volunteers and the support of the citizens of the Central Okanagan.
